Steve has over 15 years of experience commercialising software and service offerings in large corporate intrapreneurial environments (AT&T Labs), academic laboratories as well as small entrepreneurial ventures.

Today, Steve is Commercial Development Manager at CNGL, a Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) funded research centre, where he is responsible for establishing the IP management infrastructure, researcher engagement strategy and commercialisation framework for this young academic research group with more than 150 researchers involved in developing novel technologies that enable seamless interaction between people, content & systems. In his current role he manages strategic alliances and partnerships with major industry players including IBM, Microsoft and Symantec, as well as universities, government bodies, funding agencies and international investors. In addition, as Coordinator of the Centre‚ at new d.LAB he has been instrumental in positioning CNGL as a driving force in using human-centered design principles to deliver more impactful research outputs not only for corporate sponsors but also multiple spinout companies.

Previously, he was part of a select team that helped AT&T Labs to move technology from conceptual development in the R&D lab to commercialisation, with one of the 1st secure digital distribution platforms available to the content industry. That technology was eventually licensed to Apple and became the core of what is now iTunes. Following on from AT&T, he has crafted and built businesses around an array of emerging content technologies, the most successful of which was DigitalHound Inc., a digital rights enforcement platform which was named one of the Top 20 companies in New York City (NYNMA, 2000), and eventually acquired by iCopyright. Prior to joining CNGL Steve was awarded an Isis Innovation Fellowship at Oxford University, where he studied emerging trends and best practices in early-stage innovation management, commercialisation and entrepreneurship policy.
